It’s time for the final of our ‘Spring Saturdays’ challenges. 🌞 Last weekend we officially entered spring, and as the clocks go forward and things start getting lighter and brighter, it brings to mind themes of spring, growth and new life. 🌼🌱🐣So for WEEK 5 we have a couple of fun spring themed games to finish off our series of challenges.
⚙️DEVISING CHALLENGE:
Egg hatching game. 🥚
This game will use your imagination and powers of description! You will need a friend or family member to play it with. You can even play it over video chat or a phone call. 📞
💭Imagine you are hatching an egg. You have been looking after it carefully for weeks, keeping it warm and taking care not to break it. Keeping an eye on it for signs of it being ready to hatch! Suddenly you notice a tapping noise…and little cracks beginning to appear. It’s time! But as it hatches you see it’s not a baby chick breaking free, it’s something else! 😯
💬 Describe to the other players what is hatching from the egg – it could be a mythical creature, a neighbour’s pet or even your maths teacher! Describe what you can see, hear (maybe even smell!) without saying the name of who/what is emerging. The other player/s must try to guess what it is. For instance, if it was a dragon, you might start by saying “I can smell burning. I can see what looks like a wing poking through the shell and it looks like its got scales!” See how long it takes them to guess correctly.
🥚🥚You can take it in turns to describe things and hatch multiple ‘eggs’.
⚙️MOVEMENT CHALLENGE:
Spring miming challenge. 🌼
This is about using your body to act out different things that fit the theme of spring time. 🤸
📝Take some time to write down some spring related words on bits of paper. It could be things like flowers growing, bunnies, April showers, lambs, going on an egg hunt…and so on (If you need some inspiration, you could go for a Spring walk and jot down some of the things you see!). 🌷
🧢Mix up the bits of paper in a hat or a bowl.
🧎Now pick the pieces of paper out one by one and act out what is written on them. So for instance, if you picked out ‘flowers growing’, you might crouch down as small as you can like a seed in the ground, and then gradually unfurl, stretch and grow until you are as tall as you can.
🤔You could even get a family member to guess what you are acting out.
🌟This game is similar to one of the activities we did on week 4 of our ‘Winter Weekend’ challenges, which was all about the weather, so if you enjoyed this challenge, you may want to revisit that one – you can find it on our Facebook page.
Thank you to those who have taken part over the term, and we hope it’s not too long until we can be playing games in person again! 🎭
We love hearing about how you get on with our challenges, you are welcome to share your challenges by sending pictures or video clips to either; honleydrama@live.co.uk, 07840800601 or through the Facebook page message option. Let us know if you would like your work sharing on the Facebook page and website.
Have fun & stay safe! ☺️
